Family Photo
We were out playing in the snow today and everyone ended up in the snow house, so I decided it was the perfect time to take a family picture! I think it turned out pretty nice for an extended arm shot.

Well today brought round 2 of the crazy amount of snow we’ve been getting. Hopefully it is over for a while, but the way this winter is going who knows. Anyway, here is a picture of Mommy and Rebecca watching the snow fall.
This crazy dog loves the snow! She will spend hours outside playing in it and running through it. Even with more than two feet, she still plows through it and has a blast! I was a little unhappy with this picture because the upper right-hand corner is overexposed, but c’est la vie!
So today is my first day in the project posting a photo of myself. This is a pine tree in our backyard that is still covered in snow. The dog was supposed to be in the picture with me, but she wouldn’t cooperate, so you’ll have to settle for only me.
Well of course I couldn’t let today go by without posting a shot of Rebecca in the snow. She really enjoyed being out tonight, but stayed in the shoveled areas, otherwise she sunk in to her chest! The blizzard has certainly left us with a lot of snow and I will definitely have more snow photos to post over the next few days.
Apparently this storm is going to be quite a whopper. It may dump over 2 feet of snow here in Annapolis over the next 24 hrs. With rates as high as 2-3 inches per hour, it is possible we will see a lot more than that. Only time will tell. Anyway, here is a picture from tonight. I took it using a long exposure and manually firing my flash to capture the snow. (It also inadvertently caused the tree to slightly overexpose) The orange glow in the background is the light from the shopping center nearby, it makes it quite bright on snowy nights. My goal for tomorrow is to photograph a single snowflake. We will see how it goes!
Another beautiful snowfall here in Maryland. This particular snow was a heavy wet snow, great for making snowmen, snowballs and more importantly sticking to everything, including our metal fence. It was very beautiful seeing the snow on everything and neat to see it sticking in the spaces in the fence. This is a close up of some of that snow with trees and the sun in the background.
Even though that picture is the photo of the day, I had to post a 100% crop of it because this snowflake is hanging and has retained its crystalline structure.
Rebecca really loves playing in the snow so of course we went outside to play in it. I brought the camera along and for the record, this is not a posed shot. Maybe I’m wrong, but I definitely feel like you can see her attitude in this shot!
Rebecca and mommy had a lot of fun playing in the snow after dinner.
Despite forecasts to the contrary, it ended up that several inches of snow fell on the area today. I couldn’t resist the urge to pack up the camera and go find things to photograph in the snow. I went downtown in the freezing cold (under 20 degrees Fahrenheit!) and looked for stuff to shoot that I thought looked good with the snow on it. It was a lot of fun and I feel that I got some really good shots. Here are some of the highlights from the trip.

This is a small side street that goes from the city dock toward state circle.
And of course the State House provided photo opportunities.
And here was a bench that was looked so peaceful with snow cover.
