Today’s picture is of something that is very special to me. It’s a little car that I used to play with at my grandmother’s when I was Rebecca’s age. It was a gift from my grandfather. Sadly, I don’t remember him, he died when I was around one year old. This Christmas, Nan brought it down from her attic, cleaned it up, and gave it to me so that I could bring it home for Rebecca to play with. My hope is that it will last until she has a child of her own, so that I can give it to them.

So today’s picture was taken with the on camera flash as opposed to my external flash which I would normally use. Why? Well I wanted a picture of the cat on my camera bag (it’s his favorite resting spot when it’s available). Unfortunately, the flash was inside that bag, which would have meant I would have had to move him to in order to get the flash to take the picture of him on the bag. Of course, if I moved him, then he wouldn’t be there for the picture. So instead, I opted for the little pop-up flash instead.

Well, we played Settlers Of Catan tonight and unfortunately, I did not do too well. Ore and wheat were the scarce commodities and I did not get nearly enough. It was a lot of fun though and we had a lot of good laughs throughout the game!

I was inspired by a post over at Digital Photography School that showed pictures taken of bubbles. They had amazing colors and were simply breathtaking! This is my first attempt this evening and although it didn’t come out perfectly, I think it is a good start.

In case you don’t know, I wear corrective lenses. Most of the time I wear contacts, however if my eyes are in a foul mood, then I have to wear my glasses. I thought for today’s post I would share what the world looks like when I’m not looking through my contacts or glasses. To put it in perspective, I’m sitting about 15 feet from a 32 inch television. I wonder if you can guess what I’m watching.

I haven’t done a lot of shooting in candlelight and decided to try it tonight. Jen was nice enough to tolerate my experimenting and let me take shots of her. I used two candles, one with four wicks on the left side, the other was a single wick on the right side. I’m not completely happy with it, but I think this one turned out decently.

Rebecca had a lot of fun today playing with her good friends David and Mary. She woke up this morning asking for them! When they showed up she started jumping up and down and squealing. They then played ALL afternoon running and cooking in her play kitchen and just doing all the stuff that kids do. This evening she was playing on the piano and just started laying her head on the keys…it’s a rough life!

This is my first 365 photo that wasn’t taken with my camera. I actually took it with my phone while we were out as a family celebrating Valentine’s Day. Rebecca just loves drinking from a straw!

We were out playing in the snow today and everyone ended up in the snow house, so I decided it was the perfect time to take a family picture! I think it turned out pretty nice for an extended arm shot.
