About the Photographer

It all started with a passion for fish. That’s right, fish. Puffer fish to be precise. Damien Wagaman had been keeping fish in aquariums for most of his life. His junior year of college he set up a tank again after being away from it for a few years. He then decided to take photos of his fish and that was when it started. He learned many valuable lessons about lighting, focus, depth of field and all the other aspects of photography through the glass of an aquarium. In 2006, after learning as much as he could about these strange little puffer fish and keeping several of them, he wrote two articles that would be published in Tropical Fish Hobbyist. Damien provided the photographs for both articles and one of those photos was featured as part of the cover for the issue it was printed it.

Damien still loves photographing aquatic life, but also finds great joy in photographing the great outdoors, architecture, and people. He loves watching people for that special moment when a photograph ceases being a snapshot and instead becomes a story. He is currently located in Annapolis, Maryland and loves to explore the area looking for memories to capture.
